Vanek would be a GREAT signing for Minny
I know ppl are down on Miller right now, but if the Wild decides Bryzgalov isn't the right guy (he's not)...
I bet Miller would sign there with his former Sabres teammates & TeamUSA members
Miller for 3-4yrs could be a great mentor for Keumper till he's ready
The end of the year was rough...
But Miller was GREAT for the Sabres this year
And just as good for StL before half their forwards got hurt

Miller & Vanek could be the pieces that make u guys a true contender for the Cup for the next couple years

I dont believe Miller is an option for MN because of Kuemper, Harding, and Backstrom all being under contract for next year on one way deals. Fletcher hasnt given much about what the plan/priority will be to resolve it. Bryzgalov is done in MN unless something crazy happens.

Vanek is playing is way back to Buffalo next year.

Nobody will want him after the atrocious playoffs he is giving us right now.

It's been reported that Kuemper will command a one-way deal but technically he doesn't have one yet. What concerns me most about the goalie situation is the scenario whereby all three are on one-way deals and all three are healthy. How many games does Kuemper get? This guy can't be playing 20-25 games per season.

I'm not sure what the waiver rules are for him. Hopefully he is still exempt and if so, maybe it's a non-issue. But he needs to play regularly whether it is in the NHL or the AHL. He can be an NHL goalie but he will not develop properly in a three goalie rotation.

5 years at 5.6??? you're delusional. He commands at least 2 more on the open market. Writing with your heart and not your mind. I really don't see him settling for 5.6. MAYBE MN gets him at 7, at the minimum.

Vanek had a spark on the first line with the Habs in the regular season but considering the opportunity to go deep into the playoffs he has NOT been a difference maker. This is the time for stars to shine and he has been average. I think an inflated contract to this player could come back to haunt the team who signs him.

No to Vanek.

This Rangers/Habs series should demonstrate that.

Just got Parrish and Heatley off the books.

no chance Vanek leaves $20 million + on the table to sign in Minnesota. nice team, i get his family is from there, but there's just no way.

he's not terrible. first off, he's a great regular season player and in the West, Minny, even though they're good, will be in a dogfight for a playoff spot and Vanek helps get them over the hump. in the playoffs, he's a secondary player, no doubt. not a very intense guy at all.

Vanek and Moulson both missed Tavares dearly at points late this season. After seeing Vanek float around in Montreal and for times with the Islanders (although he was racking up points), I am not sure this guy is worth a long term deal at $7-$8 Million a year which I am sure he is seeking

Would you really want vanek? Look at how he is playing for Montreal right now, no drive or heart.

I had the same reaction reading this you did, spot on. I expect at least 6 years/42 million is about the minimum its going to take to sign him even if he has a few reasons he'd prefer MN.

Sabres fans watched the play of Vanek that Hab and NHL playoff hockey fans are now seeing, for years. When he gets hot, goals come in bunches. When he cools, you get nothing from him. He floats. Wild fans, you'll see it. He will score goals. But for $6-8 mil, i would also like to have a more complete player; backchecks, digs in the corners, make plays defensively, use his size physically. When Vanek is not scoring, you get nothing else from his game.

one issue in Montreal right now, he's playing with Tomas Plekanec. i think with a guy like this, you need to play him with your best players if you want him to produce at 5-on-5, especially in the playoffs.

what i've learned about him is that he's a wonderful player but he's a secondary/complementary player. and if he's looking for $7-$8 million, it's just a luxury that most teams can't afford.

He played the cup champs and StL still had a ton of forwards either hurt or not at 100%
And I thought Shattenkirk sucked defensively as well
Chicago had a lot of great scoring chances
Miller has to be better...
But it also seemed like everything that could go wrong for StL, did go wrong
